This is a very long and detailed read on the Eastern Roman/Byzantine Empire. More than that, it also covers Bulgaria, Serbia, the Ottoman Empire, the Mongols, and many, many more. This time frame is one that I've not dug into anywhere near as much as WWI or II, so this was a great find for me.16,098 locations. Picked it up while free, but considering the size and quality of the writing, well worth paying for.

I love this book and have learned a lot; cambridge ancient history or anything that is cambridge history is excellent. For the money this book is unbeatable and Bury is one on my favorite authors. I have all kindle ebooks on Cambridge ancient and medieval history books and have all books by Bury.
This is a collection, not a complete continuous history. For someone with a bit of knowledge, this will be a wonderful supplement. The Cambridge series is always great, and this is no exception. The entries are well-written, clear and enlightening. I strongly recommend this book, with the recommendation that a summary history be read first.
Excellent material, however, this book has no page numbers, no chapter list, no index, no footnotes, no bibliography or source list. Not sure if it was just reprinted incorrectly or what but I have other books by Bury that do contain these things so...?
